“Alister…Alister, answer me, “ said a faint voice coming from the hallway
“Yes, what is it?” Alister said back to the voice.
“You need to wash the stock it’s getting rusty,” the voice said
“Ok be right out in a minute,” Alister replied.
He stood up from where he was sitting and took a good glace around the room, them stretched as if he was trying to touch the very high ceiling while standing. He thought in his head maybe I could get Thomas to help me out with washing stock.
Wait no he’s too busy to help me out. Ah well it’s not that hard he thought, thinking there wasn’t hat many blades to wash.
He walked down the hall were the voice was coming from. He popped out the other side and saw his aunt Amra washing dishes in the sink.
“Better start quick before dark or else you’ll have to do them tomorrow,”
She said looking at him with a smile on her face.
“Don’t worry there isn’t that man…….”
Alister said while walking into the storage room looking at all the rusted blades
“…ny; how did this happen?”
He said with a blank look on his face.
“You haven’t don them forever so quite your complaining and just do it”
Amra said giving him a deathly glare.
So he started one blade at a time, it took him a while before he was finished
By the time he was done his hands were tired. Later that very afternoon he got a summon
To his village temple were the shaman lived. He had no idea what was in-store for him he thought he was in trouble so he thought up an excuse for something he had done but he hadn’t done anything wrong so he planed to just say.
“I didn’t do it, I swear on my life,”
So he did…..
“I didn’t do it, I swear on my life,” Alister said to the shaman.
“But you did nothing wrong, it’s what you have done through out the years.
And we would like to give to you the honor of going to the mountain and find out what is wrong.” The shaman said back patting the boy on the shoulder reassuring him he was ok.
“why do I have to go to the mountain and not anyone else?” he said thinking this was a lie and they were trying to get rid of him
“there are going to be others four to be correct they are from other cities trying to figure out why there is something wrong with the mountain, there will be a young priestess from Pharimne, a squire from the kingdom of Groswind, also a dark mage from the southern continent Dreamur, and last a knight from Joiseth, they will all be there for our country”
The shaman said looking at the boy with a half smile trying to make it as harmless as possible.
“so when ever you get a chance tonight you need to pack for the trip.”
He said pointing to the door.
Alister went home thinking why me, Why am I being sent instead of someone important to the community not some black smiths son.
Tomorrow I’ll ask him why but for now I need to pack my backpack.
He packed his bags and headed out the door to see the whole town nowhere to be found
It was totally silent. Which in his case it was weird because there is always something going on, and dead silence is just creepy. So he started down the hill toward the town hoping someone will be there to say goodbye or something but there was nothing
A ghost town.
He leaned next to a shop door and it flung open he hit the ground hard and almost knocked the wind out of him. He gathered himself a looked around nothing.
“Hello? Anyone here hello?” he said loudly into the empty shop.
He walked in further and went through the door next to the counter and opened it softly
As he peeked around he saw the shopkeeper lying in bed sleeping. Alister walked closer and poked the sleeping man hoping to wake him up, nothing not even a twitch.
Alister poked him again in the temple and the mans head went rolling off the bed.
Alister didn’t move he was in shock of what he just saw. He walked away holding his mouth as if he was about to vomit.
He managed to get out side and yelled one more time.
“Help!!!!! Someone come help!!!!!”
Not a pep just his voice echoing off the hills surrounding his town.
He had to leave a go what the shaman told him to do and not come back to his dead town.
He ran straight out of the town and glanced back only once to get a mental image of what his home once was. He kept going following were the smoke was coming from the mountain.
As Alister looked back onto the path in front of him, he kept thinking about if the incident at the village was a murder or some kind of animal attack. Then again the wound on the shopkeeper was to clean and that night there wasn’t any screams or anything so it was murder. But the entire village was silent. He couldn’t help but think about his mother
And her being dead. Alister tried to get the thought out of his head but it just wouldn’t leave. He started to cry and weep, he started to wipe the tears away from his eyes trying
To see the mountain. As it cleared he could see it clearly. The door that leads inside was in the middle of the hill. He started up the trail. The path was surrounded by razor blade like rocks. When Alister made it to the door he looked into it and he saw a long hallway that twisted and turned surrounded by torches. Alister entered the hallway gazing at the carvings in the walls, they were vary detailed. They seemed to have told the history behind Sepheris and his prisoner. Alister could not make it out so he just looked.
Alister made his way to the great room with the smoking crystal under his feet.
There were four people standing there the squire the priestess the dark mage also the knight he was told of.
“Hello I’m Alister the village boy from Dagona,” he said eyeballing at the dark mage cloaked in a heavy cloth that had a strange symbol on it.
“ You finally made it, good, we can get started now,” the priestess said with a look of disappointment on her face.
“Started on what?” asked Alister wondering what the heck he was doing here.
“Analyzing the crystal and why it is smoking, so you want to start,” glaring at Alister
hoping he won’t know what to do. And just as he expected he didn’t.
“I don’t know what to do I’m just a boy,” Alister said coking like you do when your in trouble.
The mage just turned around and looked at the crystal. He reached out to touch it
*Sssssss*
“Ouch!!! It’s hot beyond belief “ the mage yelled out.
“Don’t touch it,” he said holding his hand while stomping his foot.
“Hey um …. What are your guises names, ?” Alister asked with a stutter.
“I’m Dark hawk a dark mage”
“I’m Kosis the squire”
“I’m Afridel the priestess”
“And I’m sr. Hailand the knight”
“Nice to meet you all” Alister said with a smile on his face.
The sat there for almost two and half hours before they figured it out,
“ I think I know what it is, it might be some sort of device to hold something, but what?”
Dark hawk said scaling his eyes up and down the crystal.
“hey Alister is your village close to here by any chance?” Hailand said looking at Alister with a weird look in his eye thinking of something to do.
“Not at all but all of the villagers are dead and I don’t want to go back.”
This subject troubled Alister, again he thought about his dead mother and the village people.
“Oh I’m terribly sorry that happened to you, I lost my family to in a bandit attack, that’s why I’m a knight to defend thou who cannot, so if you want to want to talk to me about anything your more than welcome to” Hailand said patting Alister on the back.
“My village is only four miles away from here,” the priestess said with a wishful tone in her voice hoping they would say lets go.
“Well we minas well go there, we have nothing better to do so lets go.” Dark hawk said walking toward the door.
Everyone started to follow. As they made their way through the door, they saw a bright glimmering light coming from behind them. As they all turned the giant crystal was gone
“What the hell just happened to the crystal it disappeared from the ground,” dark hawk said looking back and forth throughout the great room nothing was there.
“We better go and warn everyone at your village go hurry.” Dark hawk yelled to everyone
They all rushed out of the hallway and down the mountainside they ran as fast as they could when they saw a giant bat looking creature came flying out of the mountain.
It was the demon Sepheris locked away in the crystal.
Alister and the others didn’t know this but others did….
As they made their way to the village the kept looking up to see the monster above their heads. A dark black trail of smoke came from the mountain following the beast covering the sky with a black haze of darkness. They were bewildered at the site they have never seen the valley be so dark. It was always bright with joy. They kept running trying to make it to the town before the monster did.
There was no hope unless the monster was not going for the village, maybe something else. When they finally got to the village they stopped and looked behind them the monster was floating right above their heads. A dark swirl of smoke covered the sky as they waited for the dragon monster to do something. It slowly circled them over and over again, nothing happened.
“What is it waiting for?” Alister said while staring straight up in the sky.
“I’m not quite sure,” dark hawk replied to Alister looking up following the dragon with his eyes.
“I think it’s waiting for us to do something to it but I’m not sure either,” Hailand whispered under his breath. After a couple of minutes Hailand started chanting
“What the heck are you doing!?!” Alister yelled at Hailand waiting for and answer
But Hailand said nothing to him and just kept on chanting. Alister watched him the while he was doing this with a weird look on his face, When Hailand stopped the monster kept going.
“Well that did nothing special.” Said Afridel in a smart-ass attitude.
“Wait…. Just wait.” Hailand said while pointing at the sky, the monster just kept going when it slowed down then it got slower, and slower, until it finally stopped, just completely stopped in mid-air.
“What in the hell, I thought only mages could do spells?” Alister yelled while looking back and fourth between Hailand and the dragon.
“Well I’m not a ordinary Knight, I learned a couple of charms when I was a young lad. When I was younger I actually wanted to be a wizard but then I found out that you had to be born one so I gave up on that” Hailand said while slowly looking at the ground.
“Who was your teacher because I could know who he or she is?” Afridel asked hoping she might know his teacher was.
“He was a wise old hermit named Noah ever since my village got torn to shreds by bandits I haven’t seen him or have even herd his name uttered by anyone”
“I know exactly whom you speak of, he is one of the elders here in my village me must go see him right away!”
“But ummmm….. guys the dragon what about it? Do we just leave it here?” Alister said right before they walked away
“Ah yes…..” Hailand started to chant once again and it disappeared
“What did you do?” Alister asked baffled by what just happed
“I used a remove charm I put him somewhere else in our world” and Hailand just walked away.
“Now to go find the elder Noah,” he said right as they walked into the gate.
A swarm of people walked up tot hem and just started asking questions
“What are you doing here ““how did you do that back there to the dragon “ why didn’t you just kill it “and all they could answer is “ were here to see elder Noah!!!”
So they kept going the people wouldn’t leave them alone so Afridel had to swarm them away she kept on apologizing to them and they just kept on for giving her.
Once they finally got to the shrine of Noah all they found was a rock.
They paced around the rock a few times.
“Well what the hell is this? It’s just a rock in the middle of a courtyard! Why would they do this I thought you said we were going to see Noah again!” yelled Hailand at the top of his lungs as he ran around the rock five to six times.
“Don’t worry we will get to meet him just wait for a while” Afridel whispered in Hailand’s ear along with a couple of other things, about how it would happen.
The waited around all day Alister and Dark hawk went for a stroll around the town to find some new weapons for them because all their weapons were all warn down and rickety. They went into about four different shops. Alister found one sword that really stuck out to him it was called the “Gates keeper” the one problem was that it was too expensive. So he couldn’t buy it so he just bought the broad sword right beside it.
As night slowly approached dark hawk could feel the dragon stirring in the place it was in. The dragon when it was teleported away it was sent to the northern lands of the “Ashalds’’ A hash place with mountains in every direction if you get stuck there you have no hope for there isn’t even a trace of vegetation in the Ashalds wasteland. The dragon waited there just waiting.
When night finally arrived Afridel walked up to the stone and said
“Astridelfroms!” Then a sudden rumble came up from the ground and a trap door appeared right in front of the shrine. Afridel bobbed her head in the direction of the door they all got to the door and waited for it to open. When it did finally open the walked down the stairs leading into the ground.
As the got into the ground the door shut behind them and they were in pitch black when Afridel stopped her foot and a se of torches lit up a long hallway that twisted and turned. They walked forward looking up and down the walls, there was strange writing in a straight line in the middle of the wall all the way around. No one knew what it said but they kept looking at it. As they reached the end of the hall there was an old hermit man sitting by a dark purple fire. As they walked up to him he looked up slowly. He squinted for a while then smiled a huge grin and said,
“Afridel who are your friends and where did you go to.” He looked at Hailand
“My great gods Hailand is ….is that you, ho my boy I haven’t seen you since you were a little lad”
Hailand leaned on one knee and gave the old man a hug.
“Master, I have been so longing for this day”
“Still Afridel where did you go?”
“I went to help the world with its problem”
“What, what problem does the world have”?
“A dragon has been se free and it came from the mountain from the west, we aren’t sure how or were it came from”
“What color was it, was it black as soot”
“Yes it was do you know what it is?”
“Yes I do it is the fabled Grendoxia dragon, that the evil warlock Sepheris locked away in the mountain, the crystal spell must have warn off and know he is free. You set it free, yes”
“Well… I …. Um not really “
“You were there when it came out right”
“Well yes “
“ Then you are responsible for what happens to world when it is destroyed, if you don’t want to be, you need to stop it and kill it be fore the next silver moon,” “and how do we do that?”
“You need to find the stones of power the represent the elements that hold our fragile world together, they are wind water fire earth light and dark, all the stones bear one of these marks
“Yes, what is it?” Alister said back to the voice.
“You need to wash the stock it’s getting rusty,” the voice said
“Ok be right out in a minute,” Alister replied.
